In 2001, I found my new passion. Not knowing anything about how to dj or mix records, beat match or even what a stylus was, I bought my first set of turntables. I would play small paries, but mostly at home for quite awhile. After close to a year I would get my first residency @ The Kastle. I was the main dj there for a majority of 3 years. Most, importantly during my time at the Kastle I got a monthly spot at the OZ really meant alot to me, because it was there listening to Gary Mac, Reece that I really decided to start spinning. In fact, when I bought my first set of turntables, I made it my goal to play there. I soon realized not only concepts in mixing, but in how the business works and how to control a crowd. There is definitely more to it than a little scratching here and a backspin there! During that time, I also played at the Legandary "Vission" nightclub in Chicago, a few raves, and at the "Burning Man" festival. After the Kastle had closed, I thought about giving spinning up(as I tend to do in between gigs)(I also achieved the simple goal I set out to do) for a "real" job. Before I ever throw in the towel something always pops up. I got a gig for the first time at a bar instead of a club. The bar was on Main Street in St. Charles called Lloyd & Harry's. It was very refreshing, always pact, and a great time. Unfortunately, due to differences with management at the time, I decided to Quit there on the a 4th of July. It was the first and only time, I refused to play and walked out in a shift. Again I thought of quitting. Unable to give up my addiction for playing, I decided to just lay low and play private parties for awhile, mostly for my boys from OUTSKIRT Records. One night, I kept hearing about some place called the Monkeybar, and how nice it was, so I decided to go. The instant I walked in, I knew I had to work there. A week later I got to play as an audition, and immediately took over there full time, playing up to 5 nights a week there! Due to change in management, the place got ran into the ground, and I was forced to jump ship before it did. I tried out a few spots to see what I liked. Lucky's & Kyo on Washington st., and Throttle on the Landing. Throttle was cool, and had some of the coolest peolpe I ever worked with/for there. I was involved for several months prior to opening in with PURE though, so needless to say when we opened doors there, I sadly could no longer play at Throttle. Currently the hottest spot in town, where I play all genres of music, sure to please, come holla.
