In 2003, Alex Reichle (current bassist) and Marty Griffin (current drummer) invited guitarist, Dylan Lamb*, to form a rock band, under the name, "Capital Punishment." The trio never wrote any of its own songs and Lamb left within a year. Woodrow Currie** was then added to the band, shortly followed by Jake Kalka**, who became lead guitarist before leaving to join his cousin's band a year later. He was replaced by Brian Huyhn (current vox/lead guitarist). Ian Baker*** was added to the group several months prior, but departed the band to pursue different artistic interests. By the spring of 2007, the now nameless group was reduced three high school sophomores, Reichle, Griffin, and Huyhn. Huyhn invited his teammate, Kyle Sain (current guitarist/lead vox), to audition as vocalist for the band, and he became the fourth and final member. Shortly thereafter the name "The Standard Affiliates" was adopted. Since then, The Standard Affiliates have played a dozen shows and written over a dozen songs
* No songs were written during Lamb's time in the band
