About Me

Victoria Paterson is one of the most in-demand freelance violinists in New York City. Her Broadway credits include Wicked, Sweet Charity, Cabaret, Beauty & the Beast, and the off-Broadway shows I Love you, You’re Perfect, Now Change and The Thing about Men. During the 2006-07 season she is proud to be touring with the Barbara Streisand orchestra throughout the United States and Europe. Past enagements include concertmaster for The Three Irish Tenors and has performed as Associate Concertmaster with Frank Sinatra, Jr., Johnny Mathis, Bobby Vinton, and Barry Manilow. Her national Broadway productions include Fiddler on the Roof, Ragtime, Titanic, and Sunset Boulevard, and she has played Concertmaster for the National Tour of Beauty & the Beast, My Fair Lady and West Side Story. Equally comfortable in both the classical and pop arenas, Victoria has performed with such stars as Sarah Brightman, Clay Aiken, YES, The Moody Blues, Dead Can Dance, and the Trans-Syberian Orchestra. She has performed everywhere from Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher, Alice Tully, Madison Square Garden, the NBC Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center to Joe’s Pub at the Public Theatre and for luminaries ranging from Hilary Clinton to Paris Hilton.
A violinist of great musicality and diversity, Victoria also performs with the American Modern Ensemble , Pocket Opera Players, Sirius String Quartet, Bronx Arts Ensemble and the Brooklyn-based group, SEM. Victoria has also performed with the June in Buffalo New Music Festival, Society for New Music and Cornell Contemporary Chamber Players, and spent many years performing first violin with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Syracuse Symphony Orchestra and Cayuga Chamber Orchestra. She regularly performs first violin with the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra, American Composers Orchestra, Westchester Philharmonic and Long Island Philharmonic Orchestra. Summer festivals include the Aspen Music Festival, Vail Bravo Festival and the Skaneateles Chamber Music Festival.
Victoria is also founder of Lumiere Records, Inc. , an independent record company founded in 2006 that focuses on classical recordings. Six CDs with the Lumiere String Quartet were released last year, and their String Quartet Wedding Music recording continues to be among the top-selling classical albums on Amazon and iTunes. Future releases will include recordings of contemporary classical music by American composers. Her additional recording credits include movie soundtracks for The Producers, HBO’s The Next Big Thing, The Thief, and numerous national television and radio commercials. She is featured in the documentary soundtracks for Here Today and Journey into Courage, released by Kingdom County Productions. She has recorded for Harmonia Mundi, New World Records and Mode Records.
Prior to moving to New York, Victoria studied violin at the Eastman School of Music with Peter Salaff of the Cleveland Quartet while earning her BA in Philosophy at the University of Rochester. She received a MM Degree in Violin Performance from Indiana University. Victoria performs on a violin made by Jean-Baptiste Viullaume, Paris, France, circa 1860. Victoria lives in New York with her husband Robert Paterson , an award-winning composer, and their three-year-old son Dylan.
