SWISH

Worldwide Hardcore 1997-1998

About Me

Liner Notes from the cd-- STORY OF SWISH- It was the fall of 1996 when I was asked to go on tour with Warzone in Europe. Unkown to me at the time, there was a Dutch band called Backfire that would be playing and traveling with us for the whole six week tour. Traveling back to Europe in the summer of 1997, I stayed at Richie Backfire's place for 3 weeks and had one hell of a time. Richard then came to New York in September 1997 and, returning the favor, he stayed with me for 2 weeks. One day Richard insisted we jam because he missed playing the drums and so Swish was born. I called up fellow band members Scott and Rich from Awkward Thought and got them to play guitar. I would play bass and sing but wanting something different, I called Dean from No Redeeming Social Value and asked him to meet us in the studio so he could sing with me. With no budget we made up three songs and recorded them live with some vocal overdubs. Too much partying led to someone passing out and then vomiting all over the studio hallway. One year and three months later, Richie Backfire came back to New York and stayed with me. Swish met up the day after Christmas to make up some new songs and only wound up with a few riffs and some half assed lyrics before wasting the night away. Two days later, we met again back at the studio and recorded 5 songs the only way Swish could- cheap and fast. As for the other songs, I gave a cassette of some old phone messages to my friend Gary Gilmore who added some strange warped music behind it using a piece of junk hand held Casio keyboard. Why the name, Swish? Why not?- it was the nickname of the bus driver on the Warzone tour- go figure. If you don't understand some of the lyrics that are in Dutch, you're not alone. Most Dutch people probably won't understand them either. Try not to analyze any of these songs too much. I know we didn't when we wrote them. --Nation of Franko 2000
