About Me

MySpace Profile Photo Editor The Psychodeliacs started out as a dream on Gary and Steve's birthday in March 2004. (Yes they were born on the same day as was Mike although different years). Gary and Steve had been friends since their days at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia but had lost touch with each other a year after graduation when Steve moved to Colorado. They were reunited by chance after 30 years and their friendship and shared love of music was still very evident. Though their musical taste is somewhat different their love for great music is the same. Gary has the much harder edge being raised on the psychedelic music of the late 60's and the hard rock of the 70's. Steve has a great love and appreciation for the blues and all things Cajun. So with Gary on guitar and Steve on bass the nucleus of The Psychodeliacs was formed. Gary had been playing with Mike on and off and soon Mike was sitting in with us on a regular basis. After a few months Mike moved to Idaho. Steve had known Woj for about 10 years but had never heard him play. We invited him over to play with us and he just blew us away. He played the most incredible guitar licks we had ever heard. So now 3 of us were in place along with our friends John Magor on guitar and Jasen Viggiani on drums. John (who is an award winning professional photographer) just didn't have the time to commit so he left the group. A few months later Mike moved back and he was immediately reinstated in the band. Jasen who is about 20 years younger than us was the next to leave and the search was on for a new drummer. Gary and Steve had known Dave since high school and knew he was an incredible drummer. Dave has been in various bands nonstop since his days at Wakefield and we were both sure that he would not be available. As fate would have it he had just left a band and after a pleading call from Gary he decided to give us a shot. He came down and the final piece was in place. This was September 2005. We decided from the start that we wanted to be different than all the other cover bands. We didn't want to go out and play all the same songs that you hear every other band play. So we concentrated on the obscure gems from our vast musical libraries, the songs that you don't hear everyday on the radio (see our song list page). The next task was to come up with a name that best discribed the band. After some very strange names, Gary came up with The Psychodeliacs. This was taken from his love of psychedelic music and he changed the spelling to Psycho since all the members are just a little left of center. We have just recently welcomed our newest member Emily. She crashed a few of our parties and we noticed this marvelous lady that no one knew. She is Gary's neighbor so Gary invited her to sit in on a few practices. She fit in perfectly with everyone and was asked to join. She brings an incredible voice and added percussion to give the band an added dimension. Within The Psychodeliacs you have 6 very good friends that have a common shared love of all music.PEACE TO ALL!!!
