Dustin Ohio

Madison Area Music Award nominee Dustin Ohio is a collaborative progressive based songwriter, musician and producer. With a background and education in music production and recording, he has made numerous recordings as Dustin Ohio and as a part of the bands Chaos Revolution Theory, Black River Boneyard and Lethargic Overdrive, as well as sharing sound and stage with many great musicians and projects over a wide range of styles.Writing and production here is done by Dustin, featuring performances by dd Abracadabraca Pants, Mister Misc Ill, Jrock, Jonny Decker, Atom's Myth, Ibo Rodruiguez, Mr. Strumwell and many other killer musicians. Finally though, he has taken his passion for music, and is continuing to build a solo career. His unique sound combines Folk, Grunge, Rock, Country, and even Gothic. Dusty was born in Wausau, Wisconsin. After attending the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Phoenix, Arizona, and working several studio and club house engineer jobs in San Diego, California, he has returned to Madison to pursue both his solo career, and participate in the band Chaos Revolution Theory. Dustin Ohio seems to have the ideal musical outlets with his solo career and his involvement in the band. His solo side allows him to express himself without having to creatively edit his material, while working in a band gives him the opportunity to collaborate with other artists, which he deems is as important as oxygen- “I have to have it.” Dustin Ohio’s lyrics are poignantly related to his life and experiences, and relay a sense of healing to his audience. He says, “I try to write and record songs quickly to stay true to their original mood,” which he believes also reduces the likelihood of songs sounding the same. He affirms that music is the listener’s alone, and is a vehicle for contemplation. Ohio wants his fans to, “believe in yourself...with all the crazy shit that happens, it’s all you can do to stay sane.”
