About Me

Bob Krusen - Producer, Engineer, House Of Bob; I started out in Chicago at Paragon Studio. Home of Styx and the Ohio Players. I then decided to move South and went to Muscle Shoals Sound in Alabama. Stephen Stills, Levon Helm, and Glenn Frey were among the artists working there at the time. After a few years, I moved to Nashville and opened my first studio on Music Row. I was also working on a remote audio truck. We contributed to the live TV audio for Live Aid in Philadelphia. We also did remotes for The New York Philharmonic, in Central Park, Hall and Oates, in New Orleans, and Stevie Ray Vaughn, at the Orpheum in Memphis. Woodland studios called and needed a Tech and Engineer, so I went to work there fulltime. By this time, I had closed the studio on Music Row, moved all the equipment to my house, and opened my studio there. I had an MCI 16 track and a Midas board (which I still use, although highly modified). When Woodland closed (under the origional owners) and I started with my home studio full time again. By now I had a 24 track Ampex. Then Jim Dickinson called from Memphis. He was looking for an Engineer who knew Three Alarm Studio, where I had done some work with Chips Moman a few years earlier. Over the next ten years we recorded Mojo Nixon, Toy Caldwell, Claw Hammer, The Radiators, God Street Wine, Calvin Russell, Jon Spencer, Perfect (with Tommy Stinson), Willy DeVille, Mudboy and the Neutrons, Steve Forbert, G-Love and Special Sauce, and his own kids, DDT and later the North Mississippi All Stars and many others. Meanwhile at my studio in Nashville, I was doing projects on Eddy Raven, Jo El Sonnier, T.Graham Brown, Lee Greenwood, Jordianaires, and Big Al Downing. More recently, I have made records for Bob Babbitt, Wayne Jackson, Redstone (with Chad Johnson), Teddy Larkin, Laurie Webb, Sharmian, Whitney Wolanin, Jimi Jamison, and many others.
