I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

PLEASE do not send me a friend request if I do not even know you. I am not here to just see how many "friends" I can total up. I am here to actually MEET some new people and to network with other photographers and models, and share my wedding photography work with future brides. So, if you would like to meet and bee friends, before sending a friend request, send me a message and let me know about yourself. If we actually exchange a few messages and then we really consider each other friends, THEN we can add each other to our friends list because, get this, we really ARE friends! :)
-----------
My name is Loren Scott. I am 44 years-old (as of September, 29th). I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, and currently live in Murrieta, California with my girlfriend (and business partner) Rachel and my three awesome kids (Samantha - 20, Josh - 16, and Brandon - 13).
I am a full-time professional photographer, shooting mainly weddings (nearly every Saturday) as well as maternity portraits, actor head shots, bands on stage, senior portraits, model portfolios, glamour/boudoir, and pretty much anything else that creates art and evokes emotion.
I began formal studies in photography in high school (class of 1981), where besides Photo Lab class, I was also on the yearbook staff and newspaper staff. Way back then, before the advent of digital photography, I shot, developed, and printed my own film and slides. These days, I shoot 100% digital using mostly my Canon EOS 5D camera (12.8 Megapixels) with a Canon EOS 40D (10.1 Megapixels) as a backup. Some of my recent photography work can be viewed on my personal web site at www.LorenScottPhotography.com.
I am also a musician and have played drums since I was 10, guitar since I was 16, and bass for a couple years. I have been performing professionally on one or more of those instruments off and on since I was 16. Although, as my photography business occupied more of my time, I have been able to spend less and less time on my music. Fortunately, my musical genes passed on to my three AWESOME kids, who are all musicians as well (Samantha- piano/vocals; Josh - guitar; and Brandon - drums).
I also have done quite a bit of web development in the past and am the creator and webmaster for www.SoCalRocks.com, which caters to live music fans and bands within Southern California. Take a look!

My Interests

I have been involved in photography and performing music (drums, guitar, bass, and vocals) since I was a kid. My other passions are software and web design, video production, writing, and acting. Pretty much anything that gets my creative juices flowing is exciting for me.

I'd like to meet:

Other photographers, future brides and models who need a good photographer, fellow musicians, and -- my comedy heros -- Steve Martin and Steven Wright.

Music:

When I played music with my band, I preferred to do a mix of modern rock and select classic rock songs that have not already been played to death.

When I listen to music, my favorite newer bands are Blink 182, The Killers, Green Day, The Darkness, Hoobastank, Dream Theater, Joe Satriani, and that genre.

For classic rock, I like Van Halen, Rush, and AC/DC.

And, depending on my mood, I also sometimes like to listen to certain types of jazz.

Movies:

Comedies are my favorite type of movie. Especially silly ones like Monty Python and The Holy Grail, Steve Martin in Oldoes but goodies are The Jerk, Monty Python and The Holy Grail, and most Adam Sandler and Ben Stiller movies.

My favorite recent movies have been Juno, Superbad, Borat, Team America: World Police, and 40 Year-Old Virgin. Way funny!

As for more serious movies, yet still light-hearted, I liked Jack Nicholson in About Schmidt and As Good As It Gets.

Television:

I don't have time to watch as much TV these days as I would like. But, when I do, a Seinfeld rerun will always grab my attention. I love The Office, and Curb Your Enthusiasm and Flight of the Conchords on HBO! Other than that, I try to catch up on world events with the news shows -- or Jon Stewart and John Colbert. :)

Books:

"Delphi Database Development" by... well... by me (and three other guys). A software development reference book written in 1996 and now obsolete and out of print.

"Replay" by Ken Grimwood. Excellent fiction book!

Lately, I've also been reading this big thick book about a type of dinosaur called a Thesaurus. I don't quite follow the story yet. But, what I gather is that this animal was big, large, huge, gigantic, sizeable, enormous, and so on. :)

Heroes:

Of course, my comedy idols -- Steve Martin and Steven Wright.

Neil Peart (drummer for Rush), Mike Portnoy (drummer for Dream Theater), Eddie Van Halen (you know), Joe Satriani (in case you don't know -- better than Eddie Van Halen).

And... anyone and everyone who ever supported me in achieving my dreams without discouraging me.
