The Kind Buds entertain their audiences with a number of inspiring covers & incendiary originals, trading fiery-sweet licks on a roller coaster of tension & release which is always a pleasurable ride. The Buds get the very most out of their acoustic guitars, offering wide-open jams and stunning guitar interplay from their twin-Taylor attack. The duo deliver tight vocal harmonies with sweet, smooth, clean notes that compliment and complete their polished sound.
The Kind Buds have released two CDs, “Hangin’ at The Lazy J†featuring their own original music and lyrics, and “Live at the Underground,†Bud and Budd’s first CD covering Garcia/Hunter, Beatles, Motown, and a variety of traditional songs. The Buds continue to focus on writing new music and have created enough new songs to begin work on another CD of originals.
The Kind Buds have been gaining lots of recognition lately with several live radio performances on WNCS, WMRV, and most recently WEBK with Uncle Dave, host of syndicated radio show “Dead Air.†Bud and Budd performed on the main stage 'tween the sets of Strangefolk at "Strange-Creek" in Greenfield, MA last spring. As a result of their dynamic performance, Bud and Budd were invited to perform at three more music festivals throughout the summer: Camp Creek; Gathering of the Vibes; and Garden of Eden, where they played on the main stage again. The Kind Buds perform regularly around New England and recently “Opened†for New Riders of the Purple Sage in NH.
Separated at birth, by several miles and a few years, twin brothers Bud and Budd Johnson were re-united in the summer of 2004 when asked to perform in San Diego at the premiere of a documentary film on Jerry Garcia. Sandy Troy, author of “Captain Trips†a biography of Garcia, and "One More Saturday Night" a book about the Grateful Dead, produced the film and asked The Kind Buds to open the show. The film premiere also included a performance by Tom Constanten, the first piano player for the Grateful Dead, The Remnants, a band featuring Troy on guitar, and an art exhibit, shown by psychedelic poster artist, Stanley Mouse.
