I love everything musical and lyrical.
I sing, play the violin, pan and guitar, write poetry, compose music and do research about the environment and music.Maybe more interestingly though, I'm exploring my instrument of choice, the violin...it's possibilities in every realm outside the classical one.
My music, I think, reflects my upbringing in Trinidad and Tobago...sometimes latin, jazzy, soul, gospel, indian, middle-eastern, reggae, soca, chutney riffs...sometimes a mixture of them all (Trinidad is a very cosmopolitan place).Have done violin and vocal gigs for the BBC, some jazz and gospel festivals, London's underground poetry circuit and the usual workshops and coorporate stuff that are the musician's bread and butter...proper website is on its way soon....My current work takes 6 forms
1. as a freelancing soloist, in all of the above genres
2. one half of the freestyle violin duo 'Xavier'
3. violinist for the cajun trio 'A bit o' string and skin'
4. violinist for indian/jazz fusion band 'Masala Jazz'
5. violinist for the jazz band 'Symbiosis'(Corey Mwamba)
6. researcher delving into the linkages and roles played amoung the environment, culture (environmental psychology) and music as they pertain to sustainable development and GIS (spatial databases).
