About Me


John Sutherland started his career professionally at the age of 17 after being discovered by the original casting director of the “Mickey Mouse Club”, Matt Casela, who jump started the careers of Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera among others.
John relocated to New York City after performing and training in over 15 regional theater productions throughout Ohio. John was quickly recognized in the industry as a rising star and was cast as a feature role in the Hit Prime time NBC crime drama “Law and Order”. Shortly after, John took the liking of Tony award winning director Michael Maher, writer Steven Sater, and a billboard top ten artist Duncan Sheik for their Broadway workshop titled “Spring Awakening”.
Shortly after, John got involved in a project which would later lead him right to the top. The band “B3”, consisting of three young city boys with a street smart attitude, released 10 singles and 3 studio albums throughout Europe and Asia. Through a span of more than three years, every single “B3” released found its way to the top 20. “B3” mutually agreed to go their separate ways in autumn 2004. But this was only the beginning for John Sutherland. Now he was able to start his solo career.
Since then, John has recorded the title track of the animated feature film “ The Nutcracker and Mouse King” along side U.S. hit maker Sophie B. Hawkins. In Linz / Austria, John performed with the Linz orchestra as the lead male vocalist. He gained critical acclaim for his work.
John is currently in the studio recording his highly anticipated solo album due out in 2005. Drawing sounds from David Bowie, T-Rex, and the underground New York rock scene, John is working with producers from the U.K., New York, and Germany. Tommy D., top producer who has worked with Westlife, Sugababes and Jamelia among others, sees John as an “artist with an amazing voice who’s going to sell records” and is working with John in his studio in London. John will also be pursuing his acting career this summer after being cast as a lead role in an upcoming U.S. feature film, being released next year. When asked how he manages to do it all, John says: “You have to be determined and focused. I want it more than anyone else, and I love what I do”.
