About Me

39 Dead was a three piece punk rock band from San Diego. We played from around 1996 to 1998. The line up was Jarrod Monday on drums, Mike Woods on bass, and Mitch Iglesias on guitar/vocals. Mitch and Jarrod came from another S.D. band called Too Far Gone. The name 39 DEAD, came from the Heaven's Gate Cult. The largest cult suicide is San Diego's history. With 39 victims. In a time when the San Diego music scene was overrun with pop punk and ska bands 39 Dead kept a more old school punk sound. We played many shows and parties, and got to share the stage with bands such as Zeke and D.O.A. 39 Dead recorded two demos before breaking up in 1998. Jarrod and Mike got together with a guy named Ryan on guitar for a party sometime in the year 2000(I think?)The original line up of 39 Dead got back together for one show in 2005 to play with the new line up of Too Far Gone. Which now had Mike on bass and Jarrod on drums. 39 Dead is done for now. Jarrod went on to play with Vex Tripp, Too Far Gone, and most recently T.J. Marauders. Mike went on to play for W.N.P., Too Far Gone, and is currently in The Resevior Tips (S.D.) and The Spooky (L.B.C.) You can still hear a 39 Dead song or two at a live Resevior Tips show so come down and check it out. S.D. Punks Not Dead.-Mike Woods
