Right now I'm betting there's a 90% chance that if you're reading this you're one of my current or ex-students. You want to know who I am, if I smoked pot (nope), if I party on Tuesdays (does xbox live count?), if I've done bad things.
I have done bad things.
I once stole a stick of gum because I thought my brother and sister would want some. My father made me give it back. I once almost got into a fight for standing up for someone else. Via the internet. What, that's still tough. I once grew out my hair just to be different. I once boxed my brother in the backyard, and I hated every minute of it. I once combed my grandmother's hair. I once told a girl I didn't like her when I really did like her because I thought my sister was listening on the other end. I once slapped a bully immediately after he slapped me. We were "cool" after that. I once believed my cousin when he said that he puked into the pistachio pudding mix as I was swallowing some. I spit it out and he told me it wasn't puke but walnuts. I once told a customer to "get outta here" in what I thought was a friendly way but he was high or drunk and thought I was suddenly "a tough guy." I once locked my computer so no one could use it. I once threw my car door into someone else's. I drove off. I once told my mother "no."
I have done bad things (note the sarcasm).
That's way I am now making up for everything by becoming a teacher. I am currently looking for employment after completing a wonderful year of teaching at Williamsville East, but there will always be a part of Cheektowaga in me. I've had some wonderful students at the schools I've worked at, but I must explain that I won't be anybody's "friend," as it is considered too risky by some.
Anyway, that's all I'm revealing today.
