Here's a few details about me.......Born In Montreal, Quebec singing from the age of 4, soul singer/songwriter Shakky Allyene says 'Music for me... is a necessity' My mother otherwise known as Laura T has been in the Toronto reggae scene for years, which won her an award for 'Best Reggae Newcomer' at the Canadian Reggae Music Awards in 2001. I started really singing outside my home at age 16. I was invited to an audition for 'Genuine Faith' Gospel Choir, made the audition and stayed with them for about 2 years. What an experience, it helped to keep me grounded. I learned so much as a young singer. At age 19, I met someone who captured my heart, my mind and my Soul. It is now 13 years later......2 beautiful children and a life that is filled with blessings. I am exactly where I'm supposed to be. Garnett 'Bobby' Pottinger (my husband) also a musician from birth came to me one day about 3 years ago and reminded me that I had to start concentrating on following my dreams again. I say again because when my son first child was born my life changed completely as it was supposed to. My life no longer belonged to me. I was now responsible for this little person whom I had to nurture and teach. There was and still is nothing more important than being a mother. I am a mother who wants to teach her children to never give up on your dreams that everthing is possible when we work together as a family. Teaching them that nothing in life comes easy it takes hard work, perseverance, sacrifice, blood sweat and tears the end results...indiscribable! My husband and I decided to make my first album here at home. We saved up bought some music gear put our heads and our hearts together and produced our first album. Our children also a big part of everthing my son a budding sound engineer and my daughter following in my footsteps, they love every minute of it. My husband played most of the live instruments I sang all the lead and harmony vocals, wrote all the lyrics to my songs. Now it's time to share it with the world. The album titled 'Come into My World' was written with everyone in mind, there is a song for everyone. Our caribbean roots played a big part of the music lots of reggae elements. Make a long story..... many late nights after the kids go to bed we stay up for hours, sometimes alone sometimes with my mom on the weekends with the kids and close friends. Juggling between, cooking, cleaning, recording, writing lyrics we did it all. Now thanks to the internet I am able to market myself as an indie artist, the world at your fingertips the possibilities are endless.
