Denise Gilreath

I was born and raised in Northwest Georgia in the small historic town of Chickamauga. I have been singing off and on since I was 8 years old. As it is with most singers from the south, my first solo was in church. During high school I sang with a 5 member garage band called SouthWind. I played a little piano and very little guitar. My dream at that time was to go to California and make music and singing my life. After graduation, I continued to sing when I could, but life circumstances did not allow me to pursue that dream. ************************************************************ ********* In 2006, my life took a very different direction and I found myself on my own for the first time. On New Year's Day 2007, I picked up an acoustic guitar and decided to learn how to play it and for six months I couldn't put it down. The lyrics and music just seemed to pour out of me at times. It was so amazing how my passion for music of all kinds came back. Then suddenly in July of 2007, life circumstances put a halt to the music once again. I didn't sing, write or play anymore until mid January 2008; then suddenly the music came alive again. This time I can actually feel the music on the inside of me. It keeps me awake most nights. If you are a songwriter, I know you can understand what I'm saying. It is almost like I won't be able to rest until it makes it's way out. God, please don't let me die with all of this music inside of me! ************************************************************ ********* I decided to create this Music Page to share my musical progress with anyone who might be interest enough to follow it. I know the sound is a little basic and raw right now, but it will improve with time. I am so excited about this new journey!
