There's a hole in my pocket about her size.

About Me

Dear [Portland] you'll never guess, but you know the girl you said I'd meet someday? Well I've got something to confess. She picked me up on Friday and asked me if she reminded me of you. I just laughed and lit a cigarette, and said 'that's impossible to do.' My life's gotten simple since but it fluctuates so much. I'm happy and sad and back again but not crying out too much. I think about you all the time. It's strange and hard to deal. I think about you lying there in those blankets lying so still. Nothing breathes here in the cold. Nothing moves or even smiles. I've been thinking some of suicide and there are bars out here for miles. I'm sorry about my every kiss and every kiss you wasted back. I think the thing you said was true, I'm gonna die alone and sad. The wind is feeling real these days and it hurts me some. I never thought I'd feel so blue, but [Portland, Oregon] you're almost gone. I think that I've fallen out of love. I think I've fallen out of love with you.

An unspecified feminine pronoun: I thought she meant something more.

A Philadelphia Story.

I once met an old man in Washington Square in Center City Philadelphia. He was there to feed the pigeons; I was there to see the Tomb of the Unkown Soldier. It was the middle of September, a little su...

A series of retroactions in the present tense.

Some people say imitation is a form of flattery, and if that is so, then in some sense what follows is a decision to flatter. This is a present tense recount of Friday's a.m. hours, and are presented...

A midnight sidewalk.

I sought to hold her eyes in mine, tight with both eyes closed, to remember her windswept hair as brown as her celestial eyes, shaped like half moons and dancing with leafless trees in the breeze. We...

Hemmingway on Fitzgerald (The inspiration for my attempted art)

My eyes laid worship upon her.

She wore flowers in her blonde and braided hair as she paced poetically amongst the moving shadows of a willow tree. Each step she took was perfectly placed, yet remained unconsidered as she seemed t...
