Fancy Bio:
The music of west Philly’s, Loren Gildar, is natural, earthy and goes straight to the heart. His sweetly mellow voice and straightforward lyrics walk into your soul like an old friend walks into your living room. The bluesy, melodic chord progressions of this deceptively insightful songwriter, stir feelings of nostalgia, hope, friendship and love. Most tunes are accompanied with his funky-country acoustic guitar playing, and he throws in an extra treat with his well-honed skills on the keys, often launching into freely improvised compositions.
Loren began study of the Piano at age 4 and has sustained an intense love for music since. He has studied and performed jazz, classical, and rock keyboard extensively and has toured the east coast with his jazz/rock group CHROMA. In his career as a performer, Loren has shared the stage with such notables as George Clinton, Robert Walters 20th Congress, MOFRO, Medeski, Martin and Wood, John Popper and many more.
Gildar’s songwriting influences include Paul Simon, Al Green, Ray LaMontagne, Tom Petty and the Slip. His piano style draws from Red Garland, John Medeski, Brad Mehldau, Bruce Hornsby and Chuck Leavell.
Originally from Florida, Gildar migrated to Philadelphia in September 2006 with CHROMA. Just months later, the band was named winner of the CREAM: THE BEST OF PHILLY RISING contest at the World Café Live. Now, with a growing love for Philadelphia, Gildar is channeling his experience of life, love and music as a solo performer, to experience the beauty and simplicity of the relationship between the audience and a lone musician.Loren Gildar and Chrissie Loftus @ The FIRE
