I CAME, I SUNG, I CONQUERED!!!!

About Me

Well, my name is Tinekqua Swasey; I was born September 12, 1990 in Miami, Florida. I would have to say that the gift of song is innate; I have always been able to express this gift from God. My first time performing in front of an audience was when I was 8 years old, at New Providence Missionary Baptist Church. I was a soloist in the Choir. I attended Martin Luther King Elementary in Liberty City, Miami, where my music teacher Ms. Jackson told my mom that I was special and that she should put me into a magnet school, so that I could be apart of the music program. My mom then decided to put me in Charles Drew Elementary where I played the flute for 4 years and participated in several talent shows, singing of course. I even tried out for the Apollo when I was about 11 years old. At Charles Drew Middle, I was in chorus. And when I moved to Orlando in 2003, I was in the Choir at Chain of Lakes Middle. As of now I reside in Orlando. In 2007, I recorded my first song the studio with Cash, which was "Think about it," I had wrote it 30 min. before we recorded it. I obtain a very dedicated and hopeful spirit, in which I am able to be passionate about whatever I do. I am very optimistic, and I like to try new things. Comfort is very important to me; I like to feel safe and comfortable. And in such conditions, I work better and perform better. I am very humble because first, I don’t like to be compared to people or put in a higher rank, we were all meant to shine in our on way, and second, because I give all praise to God for blessing me with such a talent; I mean I can’t take all the credit. In addition to being a singer, I am also a writer. I’ve been writing poems and songs since I was in 5th grade. I have created a book of poems and short stories that I one day would like to publish. I love to sing, not only because I am able, but because I love to touch people when I sing. I love to feed hearts through my words. That’s why Lauryn Hill and Mary J. Blige are my biggest inspirations. I stay ahead of my game and I don’t like to play childish games. I’m very mature, wise and advanced. Nothing is too hard for me. I accept challenges, to make me better and make me stronger. All in all, I look forward to being an artist. It has been my dream since I was a child. I’ve never loved anything as much as singing. Music is my heart and I want to be great and remembered for it, in a positive way. I believe Tupac was thinking of me when he said “I'm not saying I'm gonna change the world, but I guarantee that I will spark the brain that will change the world."
