We're in development to produce a tribute CD to one of our favorite films of all time, REPO MAN - the cult 1984 film written & directed by Alex Cox, produced by Michael Nesmith, and starring Emilio Estevez and Harry Dean Stanton.
The original soundtrack celebrated the southern California punk movement of the late 70's/early 80's featuring bands like Black Flag, the Circle Jerks, Suicidal Tendencies, Iggy Pop and others. We'll be tributing this film and soundtrack with some of our favorite bands covering those now-classic punk rock tracks.
Our good friend Chris Gore (filmthreat.com) will be writing the liner notes for the CD jacket. Chris grew up in the 80's like us, is the founder & editor of FilmThreat.com, a self-professed movie geek & pop culture junkie, writes books, makes movies, and the list goes on.
This is looking like a 2010 release which works well timing-wise now that rumors of an Alex Cox-penned script called "Repo Chick" with David Lynch producing has been confirmed to begin production in early 2009.
For your listening pleasure we've posted Frank Black's cover of "Repo Man" which appeared on our popular "High School Reunion" compilation. Please note this track will not appear on the Repo Man tribute. You can purchase the track from iTunes
