About Me

Simeon Belle (Skimbeats) producing since 1996 I have always loved House Music and it is House that I produce...It all started in the womb !! I was spinning moves before I was even born, and giving my mum terrible heartburn !!!I have always been into music and had alot of exposure to 80's funk and soul, through my Mum... Whilst my Dad blasted reggae on a regular basis fueling my love of bass... The first ever record I bought was Michael Jackson 'BAD' swiftly followed by the album on cassette... I had been rockin out to Jacko from as far back as I can remember!! I also loved Hip Hop and Breakdancing...Up until my early teen years I listened to mainly Hip Hop, people like 'A Tribe Called Quest'&'De La Soul' when it was all real and good... The first introduction to house was listening to a guy called 'Fast Eddie' who had a style called Hip House...My life as a teenager revolved around music, I didn't seem to have much interest in anything else other than music with heavy bass lines...I first ventured to the big city of 'London' where I listened to House & Garage, this soon became an obsession and I started spending every Friday and Saturday night searching out new DJ's to listen to. My favourite haunt soon became 'Ministry of Sound' where I still believe they have one of the best sound systems around. Other than spending time in clubs I spent every waking hour in the studio experienting with new sounds and styles where my sounds were generally dark.My love of music production started after spending the day in a studio with a guy called Simon Gordon and my sister Natalie... That's when I caught the bug... I then went on to spend 3 years learning my craft with a guy called Mark Hearne in the Final Impression Studio...the set up was professional so I was lucky enough to learn in a creative environment. There I worked on many different styles including House, Hip Hop and Rock as well as more experimental sounds...Music production was my first love, I later realised that being able to mix music to an audience would educate me further. I began playing at parties where my sounds and choices of music were enjoyed and praised as I tended to go for the less commercial choices...I then moved to London where I got caught up in the rat race of it all working long hours to pay the billz. Music unfortunately took a back seat for a few years.I started to realise my life was not so fulfilling with the absence of music. I began hitting the clubs to see where the sounds were at. It soon became apparent that London had become stuck in the 'soulful' sound or 'electro' vibe with nothing in between. On traveling to San Francisco I realised that the sounds being produced out of 'West Coast' USA were very different to what I was hearing back here in London. I felt totally inspired for the first time in a long time after listening to 'Jay-J' & 'Miguel Migs' their eclectic mix of sounds were so unique. This got me straight back into the groove, I came back sold my old record decks and purchased some CD mixers and once again became hooked.I have traveled over the past few years to the 'Winter Music Conference' in Miami to listen to some of the world's best DJ's. ..
