Inspired by the growing need for promoting lesbian-feminist sociocultural visibility group of feminists started an initiative to form an LGBTIQ choir. Our priority was to create a safe space where members of the LGBTIQ community could be free to express themselves. The space would provide them with the possibility of using music and art to make their contribution in promoting diversity. Le Zbor was organized in October 2005...We felt that the time had come for the city of Zagreb, the country, and this region of Europe, to have their first LGBTIQ choir.Conductor is lovely Miss Lidija Dokuzovic who is above all real professional and has a vision how should we sound like..She is also a lead singer in bend Afion. At the begining there was five of us..now the choir have 10-15 members. whoowho ;) . We are open to any individual who is able to work seriously regardless of sex, gender, sexual preferences or previous musical experience.The organizing principle is democratic. Each member has equal say in selecting songs, visual identity and stage choreography.First apperance was in net center Mama where we organized trash celebration of orthodox Xmas. Also in Mama we celebrated Womens day in Maech. And so on.. Le Zbor's repertoire is atipical choir songs and we are proud of it ;) The songs that we sing are: revolucionary, folk macedonian, child's songs, and even arrangements from Lollobrigida, Dolly Parton and songs from the '50.
