Paul Tchounga was born in Yaoundé Cameroon, As a self-taught musician Paul was selected by US music scholars as one of the best young African Jazz musicians in the National Competition of Cameroon (and six other African countries) through which he was awarded a full scholarship to both travel and reside in the United States. His accomplishments include both performances and recordings with several well known musicians such as Struntz and Farah, Andrae Crouch, Jean Luc Ponty, Manu di Bango, Paula Cole, Sussan Deyhim, Luis Villegas, Native Vibe, Ashley Maher, Adam Rudolph, Andy Suzuki, Nocy Karkour, Andre Manga, Shaman's Dream, bandidos de amor, fred doumbe, Hassan Hakmoun, Vincent Nguini, and many more. Paul Tchounga recieved a Billboard award for the World Music Album. He has also been a Grammy Nominee for his contribution on Struntz and Farah's Primal Magic Album of the Year. Paul originated the well known Cape Town drum groove on Grammy artist, Yellow Jacket's, Blue Hat album and many others... He has also had the priviledge to work as the assistant Engineer with Hugh Padgham (music producer of Sting, Police, Paul Mcartney, Paula Cole). Paul presently resides, composes, instructs, performs and records in Los Angeles, California.
