About Me

/

JUST PEOPLE are the dedicated offspring of a generation of movers and shakers. Take the eloquence of Bob Dylan, mixed with the sheer power of Led Zeppelin, add a dash of Kings Of Leon and for a nice after taste throw in some Talking Heads. What you get is quintessential JUST PEOPLE. The range of musical flavors jump from funk, to rock and back down to pop but always with a signature style that is entirely JUST PEOPLE. Darcy Wallace of the Oregon Voice beams, “JUST PEOPLE are tough to pin down, but damn it, it just sounds so good.”
Derived from the mind of idealistic front man Scott Gilmore, JUST PEOPLE combines the optimism of our past with the dedication and energy of today’s youth. Ott Tammik of The Oregon Daily Emerald says it best, “JUST PEOPLE is not just a band; it’s a philosophy.” Serena Markstrom of the Register Guard explains, “Scott Gilmore is an incorrigible idealist.” If you want a taste, you can download any of our music for free @ JustPeopleMusic.com.
Although our recordings are strong, a JUST PEOPLE live show is not something to be missed. Alex Gabriel of the daily Emerald says, “JUST PEOPLE's down home soul comes alive during their live shows, laced with grooved out licks and high energized improvisation.
>br>Whether you are in town for a show or happen to stumble upon a track, we welcome you to our family.
In the end we are all JUST PEOPLE

Band Members:

Scott Gilmore: Vocals, acoustic guitar, piano, awkward burbles.

The Register Guard claims: “Scott Gilmore is an incorrigible idealist”. While this may be true, Scott’s lyrics are grounded in reality and backed with a degree in Journalism from the University of Oregon. Raised by sagacious writers, Gilmore wields both the pen as well as his trademark purple guitar in a battle for the awakening of the world. He may be a dreamer, but then again, aren’t we all?

Alex Greene: Percussion

Alex Greene represents all that is good in rock and roll. With flowing long hair and fluent style, it is hard not to think of him as a reincarnation of John Bonham. His drumming spawns from something deeper than music to create an inspiring back-bone to anything he touches. With uncontrollable passion, Greene attacks his drums in an all out flurry of power and precision. He may blow your mind on the kit, but he is also one of the most humble people you will ever meet.

Todd Gee: Bass

Todd Gee is like a rock on the bass. He holds down the fort with ever evolving riffs that sooth your mind and let you know that everything is going to be okay. Dubbed “The Magic Man” for his ability to make things happen, Todd Gee creates pitch perfect bass lines with out as much of a bead of sweat descending from his brow. You may ask yourself: “How does he do it?” It’s just Todd Genius the Magic Man.

Peter Marcott: Lead Guitar

Peter Marcott is a throwback to the days where guitar solos could slice your ears in half with just one bar. Dubbed “The End” for his ability to close down shows with the audience in an uproar, Marcott creates licks that haven’t graced our speakers since the likes of Jimi Hendrix. This virtuoso isn’t just a shredder, he is classically trained in music and has written several of his own ensembles. Combining a rich musical background with shear unbelievable talent, Peter Marcott is a name you should remember, or you can just call him The End.

Rachel Hom: Flute

Rachel rocks the flute like it’s nobodies business. Her obscene musical prowess and spot on fills will leave you shivering in your booties. Don’t worry, Rachel may seem savage behind the flute, but she will just as quickly warm you up a cup of hot’ cocoa and serenade you to sleep.

Ian Ridgeway: Guitar

Ian Ridgeway joined the band as a side project from his main focus “Move Something” in 2007. Within two practices the guitar legend had pinpointed the sound needed for the upcoming album and performed it flawlessly in the studio. After a year off captaining the Scooter Alabama and supporting Neve Campbell in a feature roll the prodigal son has returned to join Just People's campaign. His energy and enthusiasm are one of the major backbones of the band.
Influences: People who remember when they became people. Smiles. Adversity. Passion. The Beatles. Discussion. Irony. Awkward Situations. Humor. Laughing. Love. Being yourself. Goals.
