Moonlyn got kicked out of her church choir and this changed her young mind forever... shedecided to lead a new life and became more carefree and uninhibited with her sexuality...this also inspired her to write music as far away from hymns as possible.
Moonlyn offers up an alternative rock sound with a twist of electronica and a touch oferotica. She works alone and creates energetic original material on her computer that isrefreshingly different from today's trends.
Moonlyn's debut album "Butterfly Girl" has been released for only a short while now andcan be considered a success. While Moonlyn's efforts lack the publicity and marketing thata large record label could provide, her popularity has spread regardless. Moonlyn has hadradio play in various college & mainstream stations in Canada (Ontario, Quebec & NewBrunswick), the U.K., the U.S., the Philippines and Amsterdam. Moonlyn’s album “ButterflyGirl” was the editors pick for 2 months in 2004 when it was first added to the All MusicGuide Website.
The video for the popular song “Butterfly Girl” was added to rotation on such popularnetworks as Bite TV & Zed TV in Canada where Moonlyn was the featured artist in March 2005and on Mss Vision, IMN TV, Mania TV and Free TV in the U.S. This video was also afinalist at the 2005 Planet Ant Film and Video Festival in Detroit, Michigan.
The song “Butterfly Girl” reigned in the no.1 position in the Alternative Main and GeneralSub-Charts on the worldwide popular site Sound Click, for over 8 consecutive weeks - fromMarch to May 2005. Moonlyn was also rated the best Independent Alternative artist inToronto and stayed within the top 10 all time Independent artists in the world on SoundClick for over 8 weeks, peeking at the 5th position- from March to June 2005. Moonlyn wasalso nominated for Best Pop/Rock Artist at the First Annual Toronto Indie Music Awards inOctober 2005
Moonlyn is self-managed and carves her own path with confidence. Her popularity has increased just by word-of-mouth and has endowed her with an undergroundfollowing scattered across the globe. Moonlyn is currently in the pre-productions stages of a bunch of new songs, that will beapart of her second independently released album. And again she is working on it in itsentirety all alone in her bedroom studio- on her computer. One of her newest songs titled"It's Love" that will be on her upcoming album, has made it to the semi-finals in the 2005UK Songwriting Contest.
