My name is Avery Dylan . I'm guitarist living in Athens, Ga. You can check out my band, the "Avery Dylan Project" at www.myspace.com/AveryDylanProject . I was born in Conway, S.C. in 1976 and moved to N.C. at a young age, then moved on to Va. a number of years later.
Growing up, I used to watch my Pawpaw (Grandfather), his brothers and sisters play music on the weekends in the barn. I'd also go with my Pawpaw and watch him set up for his Fri. and Sat. night gigs. I didn't get to watch his shows, he said that I was too young and that I'd get my turn. Of course being around a family of musicians, a guitar was sure to end up in my hands. I was 7 years old when my Pawpaw gave me my first, it was a early to mid 70's Sunburst Fender Corrinada II. It was HUGE, but he taught me what I needed to know and sent me on my way. I eventualy traded it for a Strat and never looked back.
By the time I was in 5th grade I had already played a solo act at a store Grandopening. I spent the next couple of years playing solo learning how to be a performer. Listening to my heros and watching live performances, I finally developed a style. In middle school, I started to find other people to play with and expand a little more. I did talent shows and played for my friends until I formed my first "BAND". 8th grade, Warrior of Fate was formed. It was a hard metal band with a few of my good buddies kickin it with me. It didn't take long to figure out that I wasn't that angry, so I toned it down a little. About that same time, I was introduced to "The Blues", and a guy named Stevie Ray Vaughan. He blew me away. I had no idea a guitar could do the thangs he made it do. My mind was made up and I've been studyin tha Blues ever since. Also, I met a great friend and "Brother" who gave me LOTS of inspiration, Shane Blevins. He's the one who helped guide me down this path and taught me a lot.
 Â
I've played in a number of different bands and traveled up and down the eastcoast trying to find myself. Names of the bands: High School Garage Band with no-name (S.G.B), Haze, College Boys and the Townies, Basement Blues Band, H.D.B.P, Sonic Leon, Medicine Jar, John Kay Band, Cadillac Johnson, Petey Wheatstraw, the Dylan Blues Project, and now playing in the Avery Dylan Project and the Allman Tyler Band. I've also played and set in with MANY GREAT musicians like: Shane Blevins, Tony Tyler, Michael Allman, Tommy Crain, John Straw, David Whitehead, Barry Richman, Tommy Talton, Clint Swords, Mike Strickland, & many others.
 Â
I have finaly found where I need to be and what I want/should to be doing. Of course if it wasn't for the poeple that I've meet and things that I learned on the way, I wouldn't be where I'm at. Thank you. You know who you are. There are only a few, TRUE, friends in most journeys. Also, if I wasn't for my mother and father, (Gerri & Dennis), I wouldn't have become the person I am. Thanks to them I know my way around the World and learned many, many things about life and its people.
Â
I like to have fun and meet new people from everywhere. Most of all I love to play music, it settles my soul and it makes me feel like I can help the World keep going. I've been doing it most of my life. Playing music can take you in all kinds of directions and meet all kinds of people, that's why I like to do it. Well also I like to be a part of helping people have a good time.
