As a solid personification of a changing time, JAWZ embodies two of America’s most influential musical cultures in a way the world has never seen. His combination of razor-sharp rhymes, Glam Era–inspired Rock vocals and catchy hooks offer him a musical edge few artists attain.That’s not all!!! His innovative image and showmanship are undoubtedly bringing curiosity and excitement back into American popular culture. With an all-new record in the works, JAWZ is fully determined to publicize his (It factor) qualities, internationally in 2009.Born and raised on Chicago’s north side, JAWZ has always been the entertainer, showing definite signs of creativity early on — from acting, drawing and joking on to music. Growing up in the 90s was no easy task; JAWZ experienced street life up close and personal. He recalls, “I didn’t get along with my mother very well at the time so I left.” Soon after leaving home, JAWZ dropped out of school and became a member of the infamous Simon City Royals street gang. Drug use, such as LSD and a number of illegal activities — mainly grand theft and burglary — eventually resulted in his arrest. Despite the challenges and under what he describes as a “Lucky Star” JAWZ somehow managed to stay musically creative throughout those years.By 1999, after years of failed attempts at forming a stable line-up with his own Thrash Metal outfit, (MOM) “Menace Over Mankind”, JAWZ began rhyming. “I never had luck finding truly dedicated band members. I tried joining other bands, but lack of dedication was the same there, too”. Deeply familiar with Hip Hop and excited with the idea of becoming a solo artist, JAWZ welcomed the change in genres. “During my time as a Metal guitarist I always listened and was in touch with Hip Hop culture. I grew up on it. I enjoy saying exactly what I want, when I want, and Hip Hop allows me to do that.”As an interracial MC in the Chicago scene, JAWZ was constantly confronted with his half African American half Caucasian background. Never really understanding where to fit in was always a challenge and led to many awkward situations. In 2002, out of frustration over Chicago’s stagnant Hip Hop scene, JAWZ headed for the San Francisco Bay Area. Teaming up with a local producer, JAWZ finally released his 2004 LP, entitled AUDIO DOPE, independently. The album was highly acclaimed among local MCs and with total lack of publicity still sold over 2000 copies on the street. With bigger plans in mind, JAWZ used those profits for a one-way ticket to New York City.Fascinated with the excitement of live performance, JAWZ is no stranger to the stage. “I rocked every stage I could find for four years straight.” Later, overwhelming financial pressures and hopelessness would lead JAWZ to the lowest points in his life, including a suicide attempt in 2005. Bouncing back, JAWZ, still experiencing lingering uncertainties surrounding his interracial roots, sought ways to display (all) sides of his unique character. He soon understood that it was time to take a different approach altogether. While honing his craft, JAWZ experimented with the different aspects of his personality and began taking on a new form. Borrowing from clinging childhood fantasies of being a super hero, then a Rock Star turned Rapper, JAWZ combined the three. At last JAWZ developed a sound that reflects an MC–Rock Star–Pop implosion, erupting with explosive force! Today, vowing to bring back that classic (James Dean) cool, JAWZ believes his purpose is to bring it to a newly integrated America. JAWZ doesn’t need to collaborate to get killer, Rock vocals (he is the Rock vocalist). His fun, edgy new look and drastic changes in the traditional Hip Hop song structure stimulate audiences. “I’m showing the world that positive music can still be ridiculously cool.” With his exceptional skills as a musician and candor as a lyricist captivation of the masses is inevitable.An extremely hard worker, JAWZ writes, produces and designs all of his own music, getups and logos. As a perfectionist, his attention to detail is meticulous. “It doesn’t pass until it’s perfect.” JAWZ currently resides in Los Angeles, CA, where he is recording his no doubt soon to be ubiquitous new album, “A RECIPE FOR DISASTER.” Energetic and totally ripe for the times, JAWZ is Entertainment!
