THE HUB

About Me

A new band, The Hub, of which features : Mo Birch (vocals & percussion) Mark Stanway (keyboards) Ian Jennings (bass and string bass) Robbie Blunt (Guitar and slide guitar) Micky Moody (Guitar, slide guitar and vocals) and on drums the incomparable...Mr Jimmy Copley. The HUB will feature various guests along the way and we hope that a regular guest will be Phil Bates (ELO) on guitar and vocals. Phil is a close friend of the band and has performed live in the past with Ian and with Mark and Mo. We are very pleased to announce that: Phil Bates will be playing The HUB's debut show on the 28th of this month. The first warm up show on the 28th September in Wolverhampton was a great success, a small but intimate sold out affair. We are pleased and proud to have had join us on stage close friends and former 'Honeydrippers' Jim Hickman and Nadia Pearson on backing vocals. Jim Copley and Ian Jennings provided a magnificient feel to the show and having Robbie Blunt and Micky Moody both playing harmony slide guitar together we feel is a totally unique situation. Robbie and Micky played together like they had been playing together for years and they only really met each other two days before the show. Phil Bates played beautifully and one of many highlights of the evening was Phil singing 'Big Log' a great composition written by Robbie Blunt and Robert Plant and was a major hit. Big Log was taken from the 1983 Robert Plant 'Principle of Moments' album. Other songs performed included tracks from Jimmy Copleys forthcoming solo album (due for release in the new year and entitled 'Slap my Hand' which features a host of talent including Jeff Beck, Peter Cox, Char, Pino Palladino, Neil Murray, Ian Jennings, Bernie Marsden, Micky Moody, Mark Stanway and Mo Birch (amongst many other noteable musicians) Further gigs will be announced as soon as possible bearing in mind the personal commitments of all individuals concerned......STAY TUNED...The Hub is something very special in the making, with a nucleus of wonderfully talented musicians, playing real music live, and for once....without any 'hidden personal agendas'...A GENUINE BREATH OF FRESH AIRThe current track on the HUB's song profile is of, The Jeff Healey band featuring Robbie Blunt on guitar. This was recorded a good few years ago and appeared on Jeff healey's first album, and was actually nominated for a 'Grammy Award' The track called Hideaway was written by Freddie King and has been recorded by many artists down the years including Eric Clapton with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers.MESSAGE US WITH YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS AND JOING OUR NEWLY CREATED MAILING LIST (YOUR INFORMATION WILL BE FOR THE HUB'S USE ONLY AND WILL NOT BE GIVEN TO ANY OTHER PARTY)
