POLYFON

About Me

Polyfon is a Danish synthpop band dedicated to the recipé of the early 1980s, with a twist of modern electro.
The band was formed in 2006 and has developed a significant song catalogue from which we will regularly be uploading to our MySpace profile.
To support our retroactive sound, we have a rather impressive collection of vintage synths. To mention a few examples:
AKAI AX80 - absolutely outstanding synthie from 1984
Alesis D4 - Drum Machine
Böhm DD 19 - Extremely rare Drum Machine
Böhm Expander 12/24 - Digital Module
Farfisa Compact Deluxe - magnificent vintage organ
GEM Equinox - Italian sample-based workstation from 1998 - but an Elka Synthexesque monster undercover
Hohner String Performer - German made stringer with a fantastic lushness reminiscent of Jean Michel Jarre's 1970s Elka Rhapsody parts
Junost 21 – Soviet Keytar/Stringer from the midt 1980s
Korg MS20 - Great Monophonic Synth
Korg Polysix - Classic polyphonic analogue synthesizer from 1981
Korg Poly 61 – the Polysix successor from 1983
Korg RK-100 – vintage keytar / midi controller
Korg Electribe A - compact analog modeling synth box
Lem Bit 99 – Italian analogue polyphonic synth from 1986 (a relabeled version of the Crumar Bit 99 from 1985) with warmth and character
Nord Rack 2 - one of the best from the 90's
Roland D20 - Digital synth with built in sequencer from 1989
Roland Alpha Juno 2 - no further explanation needed
Roland rs-202 - Stringer
Roland CR-78 - Drum machine
Roland CR-68 - Drum machine
Roland tr-33 - Drum machine
Roland SH-2000 – Excellent monophonic analog synthesizer
Roland SH-3a - Another great monophonic synth
Roland SH-32 - multitimbral desktop synth module
Siel Expander 80 - rare Italian analogue synth module from 1985
Solton Project 100 - Extremely rare Italian analogue polysynth from 1984
Solton Expander M160 - rare sample-based racksynth from the late 1980s. So rare it is not on the internet...
Tiracon 6V – Unique analogue polyphonic synth with MIDI from the GDR
Waldorf Micro Q - Virtual Analogue Synth
Wersi Entertainer – Bizarre German organ from the 1970s with a built-in rhythmbox which can be hear in our track "In the arms of a stranger"

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: The band currently has three members:

Joe:
Songwriter, singer and keyboard player, grew up in an industrial region of Sweden. Has played with various electronic acts since the age of 16. “Infatuated with electronic music as far back as I can recall. Music to me is an emotional lever, a kind of self-therapy."

Rasmus:
Keyboards and singer, too young to even have heard about synthpop and Italo disco in the first place, Rasmus is nevertheless a true expert in anything related to synthesizers and electronic pop.

Rene:
Drummer, songwriter and keyboard player. Clearly one of the most experienced musician in the group, having recorded and toured with several bands like Naked and Beige.

Morten:
Morten is bass-player and co-vocalist in the band. His musical sources of inspiration are quite wide, but include Peter Hook of New Order, Nick Cave and John Entwistle of the Who.
He's initial musical experience was taking organist lessons as a child. Since then he has been playing in a variety of instruments including guitar and keyboards, his Fender Jaguar being his dearest possesion.
Morten has previously played in a number of bands, the lates being Neon Machine
Influences: Depeche Mode, Ultravox, Pet Shop Boys, Human League, Yazoo, Erasure, New Order, Visage OMD, Scatterbrain, Mesh, De/vision, Cosmicity, Camouflage and many others
