About Me

Isolde Gabrielle Amadeah is a music Director, conductor, and internationally acclaimed award-winning mezzo-soprano and organsit who was born in Vienna, Austria and trained at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Music Akademie in Vienna, University of Barcelona, Immaculate Heart College, Mount St. Mary's College, and Loyola Marymount University. She began her career as a child singing in bomb shelters during the air raids.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Piano studies follwed at age six at the Salzburg Mozarteum, organ studies at age eleven at her boarding school Sacre Coeur in Pressbaum near Vienna. Throughout the years, she returned to the Mozarteum for Summer Master Classes. She also studied organ with the late Owen Brady, playing most of the great organs in the Los Angeles area. Her son and daughter claim to have been raised in choir lofts and rectories! Isolde feels that she was born with a special love for church music. In Vienna she was raised listening to the Vienna Boys' Choir singing High Masses by Schubert, Mozart, and Haydn. Church music was the one constant elements that sustained her during wartime, during ten years of boarding school, and her two year stay with a foster family in Zaragoza, Spain.~~~~~~~~~~~~Isolde has appeared in concerts in Austria, Spain, France, Holland, Switzerland, Germany, and the United States. She also performed at the Hollywood Bowl, the Ojai Festival, Santa Barbara Catalan Festival, and soloed with the Dr. Jane Hardester's ensembles.~~~~~~~~~~~~For the past 20 years, Isolde has been the Director of Music Ministries and Organist at St. Catherine Laboure Church, where she oversees the ten choirs in residence, plays and sings for masses, weddings, and funerals, trains cantors and teaches private voice, piano, organ, and conducting lessons.~~~~~~~~~~~~In addition to composing, the multi-talented, multi-lingual Isolde produces, directs, and conducts adults and children in choirs, concerts, festivals, cabarets, and recordings.~~~~~~~~~~~~Isolde has just finished March 2007 producing the highly acclaimed CD "Into Your Hands I Commend My Spirit - The Passion of Christ in our Daily Life." The selections on this recording relate to the Liturgical time of "Holy Week", the time of Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, with the primary focus on the Seven Last Words of Christ. The CD highlights the talents of the Jubilate Deo Choir of St. Catherine Laboure under Isolde's direction. Her last CD was produced in the wake of 9/11. "And My Spirit Rejoices in God, My Savior" started out as a project of recording from the choir's repertiore, but after 9/11 it became a gift of music and prayer.~~~~~~~~~~~~Since 1970, Isolde has been affiliated with St. Andrew's Abbey in Valyermo, California, as a Benedictine Oblate, as a signer and actress playing the leading role in their production of the sacred play, Lux Hodie.~~~~~~~~~~~~In July 2005, Pope Benedict XVI bestowed upon Isolde the Papal Honor of "Benemerenti" (Serving with Distinction) in recognition of her committed service to Christ and the Church.
