About Me

Like most drummers, I got my start in church at the age of 4 yrs old. I as well had to go through being kicked off the kit by older, more experienced drummers. I'm actually greatful for that experience because it taught me to be stronger and practice more. At the age of 6 my mother (R.I.P.) put me in drum school, she saw it in me before i could realize i had it. My mother was an awesome singer with the "Treadwell Community Singers", every chance i got to travel with her, i did. I would play in rehearsals, and open up for concerts and truly get a feel for being a pocket drummer. I sat under Joe Treadwell, who taught me a lot in my early stages. I continued to play and develope my own sound which i think is very important for any musician. By the age of 14 I had a steady gig with the "resurected voices" which was my cousins group. I also played my first recording session with this group as well as studio playing, which takes on a different dimension in drumming. By age seventeen I met an oustanding piano/keyboard player by the name of Walt cunningham. He took a liking to my playing as well as me to his, and made me his drummer. He formed a choir in early 1997 by the name N.I.V. While continuing to play locally, a buddy offered me a position to do the house of blues gospel brunch playing for the late andre t. patterson & the "shop" choir. I did the house of blues second and fourth sundays for a year, while in between still playing for resurected, walt as well as my home church. I currently play for up & coming gospel artist walt cunningham.
