Shannon Elkins, founder of Art from our Heart Productions together with Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi and The Diabetic Wellness and Education Foundation, today announced a 3 day collaborative benefit art Gala and Fine Art and Craft Festival to benefit the millions of people suffering from Diabetes, The event will take place at Nassau County’s Chelsea Mansion beginning with an opening evening
Art auction with live entertainment at the Chelsea Mansion in Muttontown.
Proceeds from the art show will benefit both the Diabetes Foundation and the Chelsea Mansion Restoration Fund.
Nassau County is also planning to host a DESIGNER SHOW HOUSE within the mansion during the month of October opening with a BLACK TIE GRAND GALA on Friday, October 3rd, 2008. This provides participating artists and artisans with the opportunity to be viewed by dozens of DESIGNERS as well as crowds of people looking to enhance their homes!!!!!*****************DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION IS AUGUST 15TH, 2008***********************

!!!!!!!!!!!! A diabetes mural project "REACHING FOR A CURE" has been planned to generate constant publicity for the festival throughout the entire summer. The coverage for the mural will begin with News Channel 12 filming a segment on July 16th, 2008. It will air throughout the entire month of July. The mural covered throughout it's travels across L.I.,created solely by childrens’ handprints, will be unveiled at the festival. Invitations to the unveilings will be given to the families of the 1000s of children who participated to come see the finished product at the festival !!!!!!!!!!!
As of now, in addition to the News 12 segment, Rhoda Amon from Newsday is writing an article, Wellness Magazine and Networking Magazine are putting us in their July issues, and Pulse Magazine has become a sponsor. Dans Papers are interested in covering the murals visit to Agawam park, Southampton, on July 19th. As you can see, our advertising plan is aggressive.

ART FROM OUR HEART Productions brings together artists and businesses from across Long Island in support of two causes they care about. Talented artists, musicians, theater groups, politicians, local businesses, and corporations are coming together for the benefit of the Long Island diabetic community as well as Nassau County’s historic Chelsea Mansion.
Art from our Heart's goal is to assist the Diabetic Wellness and Education Foundation, an organization devoted to serving the Diabetic Community, by raising money, awareness and educating women, men and families of Long Island who are fighting both type 1 and type 2 diabetes now. Art from our Heart is an organization that facilitates ‘community helping community’. The businesses and people of Long Island work together to raise funds for their friends, family and neighbors who are directly affected by diabetes right here on Long Island.
CHELSEA MANSION AND GARDENS is undergoing vital renovations to restore the once majestic mansion to its former glory and to make it available for use by the extended Long Island community.Our goal is also to raise funds to help restore it.Many thanks to our past sponsors:
ART FROM OUR HEART ,which will feature the work of hundreds artists and artisans, was conceived and produced by artist Shannon Elkins.She was a two-year contributor to the LI2Day Poster Project , a collaborative community-business effort to raise awareness of the LI2Day Breast Cancer Walk and she has now dedicated herself to a new cause this year, Diabetes. Mrs. Elkins comments, “I am thrilled to expand the involvement of the greater LI artist community and to work together with Nassau County to benefit Long Islanders like me 8 year old son, Rory, who deal with the daily struggle to control their Diabetes. This effort is a statement of the commitment of the art community and the business community in collaboration. It’s simply neighbor helping neighbor -- We’re here, we care, and we found the way to show it.†This years event will bring together the nations finest artists and artisans resulting in a grand festival like no other. Mark your calendars for this one should not be be missed.
