Jay Black

Noel Lloyd Gregory Jr. alias Jay Black, was born in 1961 in London, England. He grew up in the suburbs of Lewisham, a small but at that time over populated district, in the south east of London. Born one of seven Children (six brothers and one sister) all been brought up by his Mother in the early sixties, which was a challenging and never ending battle to maintain discipline and encouragement through an almost impossible situation,(but she believed in her self, and then passed it on).
One of Jay’s first musical experiences was with his brothers as a child. All being fascinated with the legendary boy group at that time( the JACKSON FIVE 5 ) with their love for music motivated him and his brothers to form their own band.(the 5 g s) God Gave Good Guys the Groove. Coming from a christen background, they performed for their friends and family, and even as far as the neighbouring district with their own impressions of the JACKSON 5, a kind of mini playback show.

But even then jay’s musical attention turned towards another band, which was equally fascinating The Commodores .especially LIONEL RICHIE.

As a teenager jay (Noel Gregory Jr.) truly began to realize that through the feelings and the emotions the songs of Lionel Richie conveyed to him, was that if he could? he should, like so many others, could show more love, should help to make a positive change, not just in your own life, but for the lives of others.

Born out of true love, still raised with out a father, jay leaves home at the age of 17 and joins HM ARMED FORCES; he is trained and posted to GERMANY, but still a true lover, never gives up his passion for music or its expressions. Whilst serving as a soldier, he grows and learns of other commorades interested in music and its expressions ,who then decides to form a six piece band called (NOBODY), creating their own compositions, being influenced by the commodores, and the sounds of R&B around that era. This was also the time the artist Jay Black is born.

Then still serving in the army, jay also discovered an almost natural gift as a decathlete,(short listed for the British decathlon team) a physical training instructor, and even more he develops his ability to listen, to think positively and then to react. Only then realizing how this could be of a real service to his fellow man, he decides to terminate his contract and leaves to return as the performing artist JAY BLACK covering the unforgettable Ballad’s from LIONEL RICHIE.

Now the roads were free, to journey along that musical highway, to gather as much live experience as possible, to pass it on.

Over the years, jay spent considerable time and dedication to perfect ionize his interpretation of his idol, and will be, he hopes, for a long time to come, but also branched out as a record label and publishing company founder and member, diploma certified music salesman, A&R manager, song writer, producer, dancer and model.
