Brigada Illuminada formed in Gävle, Sweden during summer 2004 by Mats Brant (ex Caster, Openmindead), Anders Bohlin and Johan Sikberg (ex Impeteus) as Light brigade. The band tried out a couple of drummers, but it wasn’t until winter 2007 when they recruited Andreas Skoglund (ex Galder, Slingerbult, Echo of the sun) that the line up felt complete. Shortly after, the band changed its name.
The music of Brigada Illuminada can be described as rooted in the fuzz rock of the seventies, but with strong impressions from the alternative rock scenes of the nineties. The band effectively mixes heavy rock riffing with strong melodies and psychedelic soundscapes.
