My Interests

I'd like to meet:

The Teen Room is open to anyone ages 13-18. So if you are 13-18, we would love to meet you.We would also really love to meet teens who like to participate in and invent cool library programs.

Come meet us too!

My name is Helen and I’m the Head of Children’s and Young Adult Services at the Vineland Public Library. I’ve been working here since the end of 1995, and I started doing programs with teens in 1997. I have a Master’s Degree in Public Librarianship from Rowan University and a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature from Douglass College at Rutgers University. When I’m not working, I enjoy reading, writing, cooking and spending time with my husband. Authors I really like include Judy Blume, Beverly Cleary, Joyce Carol Oates, Gary Soto, Lorrie Moore, Toni Morrison, Sharon Creech (I met her!), John Irving, Cornelia Funke, Walter Dean Myers, Nancy Farmer, Mo Willems and J.K. Rowling. I like to keep an open mind about music, but I am most familiar with music from the 1990’s & earlier.

My name is Nicki and I started working as a teen at the Vineland Public Library back in 1998. I was around for some of the first Teen Club meetings and Coffeehouses (I even performed a few poems). A few years ago I decided that I would like to make a career out of being a librarian. I finished my Bachelors Degree in Liberal Arts at Thomas Edison State College in 2006. In January 2007 I received a full scholarship from the New Jersey State Library to get my Masters Degree in Library Science at Rutgers University. I completed my courses in December 2008 and I'm now a real librarian! I love to read (don't all librarians?!) and some of my favorite books are the Harry Potter series, His Dark Material series and books written by Stephenie Meyer, Jodi Piccoult and Suzanne Collins. I have a cat and a dog that like to fight for my attention. When I'm not at work I like to hang out outdoors, crochet and take photographs of pretty much anything.

My name is Kelly and I am a Library Assistant here at the library. I am a student at Rowan University where I am majoring in Elementary Education and English. When I am not going crazy over school, I like to read, listen to music and spend time with my friends. I will read just about anything. I really love children’s literature and Jodi Picoult. Music is one of my favorite things ever! My favorite band is Hanson. I have seen them 14 times and even met them twice! Other than that, I am a huge Red Hot Chili Peppers and 80’s music fan. I have the two best cats on earth. Their names are Toby and Jonathan. They love to eat all day. I love to eat all day, too. My favorite food would probably have to be ice cream because I could eat it at anytime of day.

My name is Monica and I’m a Library Assistant at the Vineland Public Library. I’ve worked at the library for about 3 years and plan to stay here for a while longer. I graduated from Cumberland County College in 2006 with an Associate’s degree. Currently, I’m a full-time student at Rowan University majoring in Secondary Education/English. I plan to go on to pursue my Master’s Degree right after receiving my Bachelor’s. I pretty much plan on being in school FOREVER! When I’m not working at the library or being completely consumed by homework, I like to READ (just like everyone else in the Children’s Department), doodle, watch Spongebob Squarepants, play ultimate frisbee, and eat all kinds of food.
