This is the quick story on The Return, and its all true.
First of all, heres the players:
Dave Copley. Hes the one playing bass. He also, from time to time, plays the keyboards, and on a few occasions he sings. He likes to stand in the shadows on stage so you might not see him if youre not paying attention.
Mike Fitzpatrick is playing guitar. He too occasionally plays Daves keyboards. He also sings all the songs that Gary doesnt.
Gary Kesling is the drummer, and lead vocalist on most all of the songs. Unlike Dave, Gary and Mike try to make sure that they are in the spotlight.
The guys have been playing music together longer than needs to be put in print. But well admit this, The Return was formed in 1986 and have worked solidly ever since. In 1999 they released their e.p. Its About Time. They also produced a video for the song Guessing Game. They record and produce their music in Garys studio called 2 Cat Studios or Myspace.com/2catstudios and download our music at 2 Cat Tunes
All three of the guys write and their styles vary wildly. So what does their original music sound like? It depends on what you hear and who you ask. But remember the days when some of the biggest bands had two or three singers and writers? The Beatles, The Eagles, and Fleetwood Mac, just to name a few, were pretty successful with this formula. Its just a thought.
The guys are at the half way point on album number two. In the mean time theyve released a three song e.p. called 3 Cuts. The songs on it are Id Do Anything, People Forget, and Surrounded.
Next, heres some other stuff.
The Return have been an opening act for Kansas, The Little River Band, B.T.O., 38 Special, Jefferson Starship, Steppenwolf, Blessed Union of Souls, Richard Marx, War, The Box Tops, and Loverboy.
The Return was a member of the music web site MP3.com from its first year until its demise late in 2003. When they released their album Its About Time, it went to number two on the mp3.com pop rock charts. Their songs were always in the top ten for the state of West Virginia, and were the top four songs for the Huntington, Ashland area pop rock charts.
They play the corridor from Ashland, Ky. to Charleston, WV. At some place or time youve either seen them or will see them. Its just real, live rock.
