My life is music. I’ve been living music from a young age. As a child I was raised by Aretha Franklin, Chaka Chan, Anita Baker, Whitney Houston and Prince. Ice T would drop in every now and then to say hi and lend some influence on some life situations also. I then was introduced to Public Enemy around the age of nine and learned about how society was ran and how the most influential people in American Culture were racist fascists. I avoided watching Channel Zero as not to be brainwashed into believing the hype about what life and people really looked and acted like. I learned about love from Mariah Carey, how to take Control from Janet Jackson and how to keep it Funktified from Da Brat. Michael Jackson has influenced my whole life. Paula Abdul also lent a hand in teaching a life long lesson about how opposites attract. This lesson is still relevant and has caused a lot of tears, happiness and been the starting point to many songs. As I matured in age I began to search my life and who I was as a strong, single, multi-racial woman, thru the philosophy of woman like Lauren Hill, Erika Badu, India Aerie, and Angie Stone. Beyonce showed me how to love every curve of my sexy, sensual self and that everything about me is sexy, to know it, live it and love it. I believe that we are destined to become what we think we are. I also believe that if you are not careful, you will become the very thing you may despise. My music is here to make people feel good when they listen to it. I want people to “flaws†if they feel it and to have the confidence of “Dam! I am lookin’ good!†or if times are hard they know that they’re not alone. I’ve been there too. All my music derives from life expiernces. I know about it because I’ve lived it. I’ve loved hard, suffered loss, laughed so hard my stomach, cheeks, sides, and that little place behind your ears hurt, cried until I couldn’t breathe out of my nose, yelled until my voice was gone then continued in a raspy voice just to get in the last word, seen fury, been hateful, been vengeful, broken things, been broken and hopeless only to triumph to live another day…like everyone of you have. I hope that as you listen to my music you will let yourself feel it, that you will get lost in it, and that you will love it. I am honored that you have visited my page, and hope that you will enjoy the music as much as I’ve enjoyed making it. If I could say anything that you would keep with you it is that life is a bunch of experiences wrapped up together to make your story, love every page…Love,Hayzel Brown
