Our goals are to create marine environmental awareness among the Costa Rican population through sea turtle conservation issues, promote sustainable use of sea turtles and their products, stop unsustainable use of sea turtles, reduce incidental take and eventual mortality during commercial fishery operations, and directly influence political decisions regarding sea turtle use, conservation, and management.
To reach these objectives we use several tools, such as scientific research to base management policies, public education to user groups, elaboration and coordination of campaigns and conservation programs, and legal litigation against actions that threaten the well being of sea turtles.
These activities are carried out in collaboration with direct user groups, such as coastal community organizations and fishermen, and official entities.
