Fat Pockets - Butterthief Phat Tape by SocialChange
------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------
Funkwig needs no introduction. He makes beats and plays numerous instruments. He is who others follow.
Funkwig is the producer for Social Change and is the musical mastermind behind V.High.P, the Funk Movement band, and the Butterthief label. Funkwig has recently released the Fat Pockets "Butterthief Phat Tape", and has previously released the Social Change "V.High.E.P", internet single "REAL", and the "Double Banger" promo CD featuring new Social Change tracks "Black Text" and "Putting in Work". These tracks are a taste of the full length Social Change album, which will be another classic Funkwig Production.
Funkwig is half of Funkwig deNorthwode (F&d) and as a team they have production credits on A-Love, Hilltop Hoods, Delta, Lazy Grey, Triple J Hip Hop Compilation, Mnemonic Ascent, Party Starters, Quro, Suburban Files Compilation, River City Projects Compilation, Straight from the Art Vol II, Airheads Compilation and Resin Dogs. They also produced their own critically acclaimed F&d (Funkwig & deNorthwode) album “Worship the Grit” released late 2005 through Crookneck.
Funkwig takes the stage with an MPC or the complete Funk Movement band, where he plays drums or bass guitar. Having performed for years, sharing stages with more Australian and international artists than you could count (including performing at the 2004 ARIAS) Funkwig has become a name synonymous with Australian Hip Hop music.
Funkwig is currently working on the full length Social Change album which will be out late 2009. Get Yours!
Peep the Social Change myspace, F&d myspace and the Butterthief space to keep an eye on what Funkwig is up to. Peace.

CD Review by Chloe Sasson

“Adelaide hip-hoppers F&d have the skills, rhymes and beats to impress. This is their first ..album, but the depth of the production belie their years spent in the local scene, from ..their delicious, slow rolling beats and Funkwig’s guitar licks to BVA’s intellligent and catchy ..rhymes. The album’s pleasures grow with repeated listens, particularlly with tracks such ..as the downbeat, instrumental-heavy So Much Love To Give and album closer Chill, ..featuring veteran Australian rappers Brothers Stoney.”
