Hailing from South Memphis, the self-proclaimed "King of Memphis R&B" is here to take throne as music entity. Fueled by today’s urban music market, Johnniemane comes to challenge everyone; lyrically, musically, spiritually. He believes that many artists today lack creativity and versatility in their craft, as well as lost the essence of what R&B used to be. But, instead of using old school techniques of crooning and piping soul ballads, Johnniemane has fused a new sound; "Crunk R&B", which mixes soulful melodies with grimy rap beats.
Johnniemane also believes that today’s lyrics are not anything to be pleased with. In his opinion, most artists have one agenda and that’s all they write about. Johnniemane’s lyrics, on the other hand, tell stories of trials, tribulations, heartache, success, pain, and joy. He puts as much though into his lyrics as he does passion for his craft, and has perfected his rhyme schemes and patterns.
