Mariachi Amistad

About Me

Mariachi Amistad, Lubbock's premier mariachi, is an 8-9 piece ensemble with instruments representing current mariachi instrumentation: trumpets, violins, guitar, vihuela and guitarron.Mariachi Amistad was formed in May, 1998, by a group of local musicians who share a love for the excitement, brilliance, and drama of Mariachi. They love the music that can take an individual through a range of music that can tell a story of heartbreak and betrayal, celebrate the simple things of life, and of endless and passionate love.Since its formation, Mariachi Amistad has performed at numerous private celebrations throughout West Texas and New Mexico and public events such as the South Plains Fair, the Buddy Holly Music Festival, Fourth on Broadway, the Cactus Theatre, the Concert on the Brazos Series at the Science Spectrum, the Miss Texas USA pageant's Fiesta Night, Magic 93.7's Cinco de Mayo celebration, Viva Aztlan Festival and their Unplugged Series with Tejano music stars; the Tejano Music Award's Video Premier, and the Lubbock Independent School District String Fling. They have appeared on stage with noted Tejano stars Michael Salgado, Shelley Lares, Los Tigrillos, and Jennifer Pena.Mariachi Amistad released its first and second CD's through Caldwell Productions.Mariachi Amistad is sponsored by the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.Enjoy the music!
