About Me

I am easy going and shy at the same time. I like to think that I am open-minded. I am a late bloomer. I am finally going to college. I think Unchained Melody is the greatest tune ever and that only the Righteous Brothers can pull it off. I like to read, watch movies, dive bars, shooting pool, and cheap beer. Backpacking has become more than a hobby for me. It is more like a realignment of the soul. In the words of P.B. Shelley, “it purges from our inward sight the film of familiarity which obscures from us the wonder of our being.” Some things that scare the hell out of me are karaoke, compulsive liars, and water. I am working on the water thing.
My heart is like a mason's, hands of weathered skin,
Each scar makes it harder for me to hurt again.

The Avett Brothers
A man said to the universe:
“Sir, I exist!”
“However,” replied the universe,
“The fact has not created in me
A sense of obligation.”
Stephen Crane
“In the absence of conviction, I’ve come to terms with the fact that uncertainty is an inescapable corollary of life. An abundance of mystery is simply part of the bargain – which doesn’t strike me as something to lament”
Jon Krakauer
"The most important thing in art is the frame. For painting: literally; for other arts: figuratively - because, without this humble appliance, you can't know where The Art stops and The Real World begins. You have to put a "box" around it because otherwise, what is that shit on the wall?"
Frank Zappa

This morning I ran in my first 10k.  It was about 29 degrees and snowing with a little bit of rain.  The wind was blowing like hell. At the begining the wind was not so bad.  ...

I want to be pretty too

Beauty is a standard set by rarity.  It is admired in silver and gold.  What else sets precious stones apart from a normal old rock?  Furthermore, there are all kinds of different value...

Summers end

It was a rainy morning in Maine on August 15, 2007.  I packed my wet tent, threw on a poncho and headed out.  It was the last five miles of the summer and I wanted to be alone.  So I le...
