Long Island was once a place where good people have lived for hundreds of years. Our history is rich with accomplishments. Good and hard working people made Long Island what it is today, but that existence is being threatened by the growing “Guido†phenomenon. As many of us Long-Islanders know, the social fabric of Long Island is crumbling. A new self centric and materialistic attitude originating from the boroughs of New York City has been pushing its way across the island. The result of this push is an influx of vain and materialistic teens and young adults who feel that the key to life is spending their parent’s money, tanning themselves and giving people attitude wherever they go. No society can function without morals. The battle for the soul of Long Island is raging and has been for years. Good people are still around but there numbers are dwindling. Like a cult across the land the Guido mentality is influencing adolescents every year and changing them dramatically, turning them into selfish, narcissistic individuals who stupidly feel that having an attitude and lack of respect for people is what gives them a sense of character, identity and makes them socially acceptable.
