ALIEN INDUSTRY is an industrial progressive band established in 1994 in Sofia. The founder guitarist ZZ Mineff was a member of the legendary trash band Crash, dominated Bulgarian extreme metal scene in early 90’s.
In 1995 ZZ followed in computers his new passion and that became the reason for generally change of band’s genre direction. Although it was a very strange and exotic way of making music in Bulgaria in this period, ALIEN INDUSTRY was hardly supported by musical critics and thousands of fans.
The debut album “Communication” (1995) was marked experimental - recorded and mastered in ZZ’s personal studio “Dune”. The style is powerful, full of psychedelic industrial sounds and influenced by legends in this genre Godflesh and Scorn. With grand live show supporting the album the band was presented to massive musical circles.
During this period band’s line up is as follows Zdravko “ZZ” Mineff (guitars & programming), Michael “Tzuro” Yalandjiev (drums), Pavel “Paul Sr.” Naydenov (leading vocals), Berberov (guitar) and Ivan (bass). Within next years ALIEN INDUSTRY gained exclusively statute of the most acknowledged industrial band in Bulgaria. It was a time when electronic mania extremely started to occupy all the music genres, but the band succeeded to balance between modern electro tendencies and old metal tradition. Some of critics linked ALIEN INDUSTRY with bands like Ministry and Killing Joke because of the successful combination of explicit vocal accents and low tuned guitars.
In 1996 ALIEN INDUSTRY participated at metal alternative festival in Slovakia and some months later they were invited to perform in London Brixton Telegraph. The band was very enthusiastically accepted by Bulgarian audience and people overseas. In 1998 their second record “Legalize It” was released followed by a national tour. Nowadays ALIEN INDUSTRY is intensively working in an almost renewed line up one foot before the new album “Dismorphophobia” release. The two main members still showing a permanent attendance are Zdravko “ZZ” Mineff (programming & guitars) and Mihail “Tzuro” Yalandjiev (drums). The rhythm guitarist Dobrin “Malkia” Philipov retailed about a month ago to work over his solo project, not officially titled yet.
One of the newest ALIEN INDUSTRY fill-ins is Terry (leading vocals), who replaced the original singer Pavel “Paul Sr.” Naydenov. During the last years he’s been singing and playing guitar in several Bulgarian underground metal bands. His specific voice and rhythmic accents give the band an uncompromising and dark-sounding atmosphere.
After the traditional presence of programmed bass in band’s sound canvas, the powerful thunder of fat bass lines shaped by Dimiter “The Funk” Kovachev will roar from now on. Apart from being a president of the biggest Bulgarian promoter - Sofia Music Enterprises – he’s also famous as an excellent musician with wide musical history and a serious stage appearance.
Armed with the most powerful sound Bulgaria ever heard, ALIEN INDUSTRY is yet to show the musical society what the real heavy stuff means.
