Byrd’s first Love… MUSIC:A versatile vocalist, Byrd is a musician’s singer with a well-trained ear for parts and harmonies and the ability to sight-sing. Eclectic in style, she is very capable of lead and background vocals and comfortable with any style from jazz to hip hop, gospel to neo-soul as well as classical to R&B. Byrd has performed with numerous gospel groups, quartets, performing choirs, and ensembles. She has studied with Lena McLin, Ellis Marsalis and currently with Lucy Kinchen. She is currently performing in the SF Bay area singing background for local artists, working in various recording studios and most recently with the band "Rustee Nails". Some notable artists that Byrd has shared the stage with include Edwin Hawkins, Bishop Walter Hawkins, Richard Smallwood, Donald Lawrence, Vanessa Bell-Armstrong, LaShun Pace, Daryl Coley, Rusty Watson, Nona Brown, Allowyn Price, Amar Khalil, Tamika Nicole, Natalie Wilson, Byron Cage, Kim Burrell and others. She most recently had the privelege of sharing the stage with Ms. Patti Labelle & "Labelle".Byrd… The DANCER:According to her mother Byrd began dancing before she could walk, crawling to whatever room she heard music playing in, pulling herself up and "workin’ it out"! Her dance style is as eclectic as her music. As an up and coming choreographer, she has a special love for “Praise Dance†and choreographs ALL her pieces using many styles of dance. Byrd is a member of the “Starchild Dance Company†spearheaded by the legendary Traci Bartlow and is currently studying ballet, Modern, Dunham Technique and Afro-Haitian dance forms at Laney College.Byrd… The ACTRESS:A natural talent for theatre, Byrd is an actress with a niche for leading as well as supporting roles. Audiences are still buzzing about her stand-out performance in the 2004 theatrical production of John McGee’s “Birth of A Kingâ€. She recently brought the house down with her performance as The Divine Sarah Vaughn in the musical "A Celestial Celebration".
