Damn right, it's a band...
Originally named after a flavored cigar, as Mango Tango, EarthTones is a band with no limitations. We play a variety of genres, anything to quench our thirst for musical fusion. Ben Compston plays guitar, (Neo-Hippies) and provides most of the lead vocals. He is the guitar-twanging, tree-hugging frontman. Jon Baumann plays bass, (Pirates of the Glen), and adds a lot of funk to the mix. Sam Compston is the drummer, (Janie & The One-Eyed Gyspy) with his dazzling rhythms and rolls.
We are currently working on the Live Experience rather than recording stuff right now, but should soon get some recordings up soon. We have recently re-cooperated from what was once called Mango Tango and have since taken on a new bassist, still inspired by a mesh of a wide variety of 60's , 70's and modern day influences. These influences include most notably ; Cream, The Grateful Dead , Jethro Tull , Kings of Leon , Led Zeppelin , The Beatles , Crosby Stills Nash & Young , Pink Floyd, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Band Of Gypsys, The Band, Queen, Incubus, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Janis Joplin, The Gorillas, Bob Marley and The Wailers, The Mars Volta, Primus, etc. We create and perform music because we love and enjoy it, not because we're out for money or to make ourselves rich, either. We take music and the creative process seriously. We'd rather fight the man than join the man. Check the site consistently, because we're always adding and updating. CD's and other merchandise should be for sale in the near future, so keep your eyes open. As well as for videos, concert news, pictures, and more tunage.
