Anneliese Cameron (Clarke) was born in Victoria on the Avalon Peninsula in Newfoundland. Her haunting melodic voice and enchanting Irish Harp can be heard all around the musical venues of Toronto, her home for some years now. Although her influences of Irish music were abundant, it wasn't until she left NF. that she finally succumbed to the spell of the Irish Harp. Irish Harper's of old were wandering minstrels whose arrival in any village or town always brought joy, but they also brought a certain fear. To incur the wrath of the Harper was to incur the wrath of the spirit world, so close were Harper's to the mystical world of the Tuatha De Dannan. People believed harping was a gift from that world. Anneliese began her musical journey at Toronto's Royal Conservatory of Music but she is basically self taught, or is she? To hear her mischievous rhythmic melodies and strong lyrical voice one gets the feeling that maybe there might be other forces at work. Her first recording 'STOLEN CHILD' was her initiation into the world of Celtic music. "I'm inspired by lyrically rich and haunting Celtic ballads and in singing them I can journey into other worlds long lost. They evoke emotion full of imagery. I also take delight in accompanying a boisterous tune at Irish sessions." So close your eyes and be prepared for a musical experience from a different time, a time when the spirit world and human world existed side by side, a time when imagination and reality were interchangeable, a time when the Harp and the Harper ruled supreme.
