Family Circus Trio

About Me

Family Circus Trio is a group that grew organically out of several music projects rooted in Bethlehem, PA. The band's first gig was actually a performance by local favorites The Ooftah Boys, in which neither of The Ooftah Boys themselves could attend. The trio had such a good time playing, and the crowd response was so positive, they decided to continue gigging as a trio, renamed The Ooftah Family Circus Trio. .......... Family Circus Trio plays a combination of jazz and rock, with a strong emphasis on improvisation. Many songs will take off in new directions spontaneously, and each song is different every time. They play alot of Frank Zappa compositions, owed in part to bassist Dave Johnsen's presence in the Zappa-alumni band Project Object. Dave also plays with drummer Ben Miosi in the drum and bass duo Quisqueya. Guitarist Jon Fadem plays in the funk/rock/jam band Post Junction. .......... A typical FCT show will include songs like Frank Zappa's "Apostrophe" or "King Kong", "Slipknot/Franklin's Tower" by The Grateful Dead, "Maggot Brain" by Funkadelic, John Coltrane's "Impressions", Jeff Beck's "Led Boots", as well as numerous original tunes by members of the group. Be ready to stretch out your mind and groove hard, because the Family Circus Trio are ready to throw down the tunes in a funkyjazzrockjamgroove style that is sure to move you!
