From the moment J. Jonah created his first beat, it was on! The Cleveland, Ohio native stayed under the radar for 10 years honing his production skills and building his studio. His relationship with Grammy nominated producer/songwriter Darryl Swann (Macy Gray), a fellow Cleveland homeboy, provided him with the access and opportunity to engineer on commercial recordings for Rosey (Island /Def Jam) and international artist Anna Sahlene( Lionheart International/Universal).
J.Jonah has created a name for himself as a world class producer, mixing and mastering engineer. He quotes, “My greatest strength is my diversity. I can produce, play, mix and master and do it at a high level, because of the time I have invested in developing my skills before emergingâ€. His ventures Mad At It Productions (songwriting and production) and Mad At It Studios ( mixing and mastering) have completed at least 7 full length CD’s and produced releases on UK R&B artist Harlan (UK) and hip-hop’s underground icons Roscoe Umali and E40. When asked why he is “Mad At It†he stated, “Mad At It is a parody of the angry black man. I have seen the world and lived on both sides of the tracks, now I have something to prove. It’s been me being ‘Mad At It’ that has driven me to success in different arenas.â€
J. Jonah’s latest venture Mad At It Records produces its first Indie release by Year of the Dragon, “A Time to Love Is A Time to Bleedâ€, an in your face hardcore punk funk metal band, comprised of members from Sound Barrier and former members of the world renown band Fishbone. This first release commemorates the first Independent release of an all Black rock band on a Black owned label. With this release J.Jonah†has emerged as a producer and mixing engineer with the skills of a seasoned veteran. His ability to successfully navigate every aspect of the recording process makes him a force to be reckoned with in the “Indie†world and beyond. J. Jonah’s possesses the guts and vision required to move music into the next era of Indie artistry.
