To me poetry is an extension of your soul. It is a way to express the feelings that you have and say the things that everyone else thinks about but no one can seem to put into words. It is a way to relieve yourself from life by making your frustrations audible to the world. Poetry is hip hop without the instrumentals. Most true hip hop artists use poetry as a means to reach people on an individual level. I often use poetry to express my everyday encounters. Sometimes the problems that people I know have or my own thoughts inspire me to write poetry. I use it as a way to connect directly with people so they can see different perspectives and think outside the box.
