Hey ... I'm BamBam Ramirez from el barrio Cañaboncito de Caguas Puerto Rico... I'm a musician... I love music... I live for God and my Family.
He started his education in Classical Percussion at the age of 8 years old at “La Escuela Libre de Musica in Caguas Puerto Rico under the Supervision of Maestro Jose “Pepe†Torres which also taught other great musicians such as; Giovanni Hidalgo, Richie Flores, Tito De Garcia, and Orlando Cotto just to name a few. He was also mentored by Julio Cesar Ortiz Director of La Ecuela Libre de Musica. His first début was at the age of 11 with the Symphonic Orchestra of Puerto Rico, which started him on an exciting musical career. At the age of 15 he started playing as a percussionist with the Orchestras of Richie Ray and Bobby Cruz which went on for a few years. He also worked under the supervision of Alexis Trinta at the Department of Culture in the City of Caguas in Puerto Rico playing folkloric music in concerts and educative events. For many years he worked with renowned percussionists such as Martin Lopez Sectional Director of the Symphonic Orchestra of Puerto Rico working with popular music interpreters such as; “Los Hispanosâ€, “Ednita Nazarioâ€, “Ruth Fernandezâ€, and “Giovanni Hidalgo†. He also accompanied internationally renowned classical musicians and Operas while continuing his education at the “Conservatorio de Musica de Puerto Rico with Professors Jose Alicea and Manuel Garcia. He moved to Boston, MA, where played with Bands such as; Mango Blue, La Timba Loca, and DLG. Worked closely with Professors and great musicians such as; Oscar Stagnaro, Ernesto Diaz (The Professor), Victor Mendoza (El Rumbero Mayor), Johnny Ramsey, Gonzalo Grau, Fausto Cuevas, Omar Ledezma, Miguel Zenon, Antonio Sanchez, and Ruben Rodriguez among others. Worked a few years with the production of Franky Rodriguez accompanying great signers such as; Pete “El Conde†Rodriguez, El Cano Estremeda, Lalo Rodriguez, Josue De Jesus, and others. Jose “Bam-Bam†Ramirez currently lives in Atlanta, GA working on various projects with great musicians such as; Guitarist Alexander “Sasha†Lisnichuk and the Percussionist Project, Rafael Pereira (Master Brazilian Percussionist), and Dr. Gordon Vernick Coordinator of Jazz Studios in Georgia State University. He has also worked with the virtuous pianista Jose Manuel Garcia and his International Trio “Grove Conspiracyâ€, Symphonic Orchestra of Atlanta and as a professor for “Instituto Cancion de Atlanta. Jose “Bam-Bam†Ramirez has served as a great example as a musician, and has earned respect in the industry because of his versatility as a percussionist and drummer in the categories of Classic, Popular, Jazz, Gospel, Salsa, and Brazilian Music.
